THE UX TEAM
Over the past years at Western Digital, I’ve assembled a talented team of multidisciplinary designers. What was once just a UX team is now a centralized creative hub that services Western Digital globally. I work hands-on overseeing the collaboration of skills in UX engineering, UI design, user testing, visual design, photography, and video production.

IA & NAVIGATION
To span pages of disparate product styles without looking out of place, I created a three-layer hierarchical system comprised of a global brand selector and optional page-level navigation, both of which could be customized visually without compromising format.

PATTERNS & STYLES
My team and I designed and maintain a versatile identity and design system for Western Digital’s multi-brand environment. All of our patterns live in a flexible Figma component library.

USER JOURNEY
As part of my long-term effort to create a unified “One Western Digital” experience, I optimized the purchase funnel to include an alternative educational path. This broke down the siloes between the upper and lower funnel journeys.

CUSTOMER SUPPORT
“One Support” was an effort to condense a series of brand-specific support sites into a single cohesive experience. The latest iteration introduces a predictive UI that eliminates the need for multiple search engines.

QUANTIFYING THE USER USER EXPERIENCE

USER TESTING & RESEARCH
Even minor changes can have significant impact on the user experience, both good and bad, which is ultimately what drove the development of our user research program. I employ UserTesting.com to run quick, unmoderated tests to validate and support our design hypotheses. For larger initiatives, such as the support project above, we begin by conducting moderated user studies followed by subsequent tests of each design iteration.
VOICE OF CUSTOMER (VOC)
In addition to UT and Analytics, we collect customer responses through predictive surveys which give us insight into customer satisfaction. It allows us to measure the site experience, scoring us on navigation, product descriptions, and the look and feel. This provides a satisfaction score that benchmarks us against the industry. The benchmark value allows us to measure the impact of UX enhancements and the customer responses help us identify themes where UX engagement are needed.

B2B (ONBOARDING USERS)
This onboarding UI allows us to educate B2B users on the program benefits, assist in completing tasks, and marketing new features. It can be restored when new features are released and communicate special offers to B2C users after signing in.

POST-LOGIN
As part of an effort to optimize the post-sign in experience, we are combining all B2B web portals into a single, personalized dashboard that utilizes cards to display different feature sets dependent on account types.

INCLUSIVE DESIGN
At WDC, I created a design culture of inclusion; implementing WCAG 2.0 level AA requirements internally and with agency partners and other WDC BUs.

LANDING PAGE DESIGN
Over the past few years at WDC, I have designed and overseen the direction of hundreds of landing pages. Below is my latest work which will set the tone for the next iteration of westerndigital.com.
WHAT’S NEXT
The goal of this project was to conceptualize the next iteration of WesternDigital.Com. My design approach was product-centric, story-based, minimalistic, and highly interactive.

AND MORE…MUCH, MUCH MORE…
I have worked on hundreds of fascinating projects while at WDC. Please contact me if you would like to see additional design artifacts.
